My name is Alison Dawkes and I am a Nutritional Therapist.
My aim is it work WITH people to help them understand their individual nutritional needs … No salad necessary!
The key word here is INDIVIDUAL.
We all lead such different, busy lives, and having the ability to understand how your food influences your body (and your life) is beyond any monetary value in my opinion!
I offer a variety of services, but my primary focus is around weight loss and Gut Health. I find these 2 areas so closely related, that you usually find one leads to the other!
I have an 8-week Personalised Diet Programme that runs 3 times a year. This includes DNA testing that allows us to maximise your results as we delve into your bodies pre-dispositions.
I also offer private consultations to work with you on any health challenge you may be experiencing. To understand and see if we can work together, I offer a free 30-minute consultation where we can discuss the challenges you are facing or any goals as well as any history. From there we can move forward with a plan.
A lot of what I do can be enhanced with various tests that you can either request from your GP or pay for privately. I can recommend what to get tested for. This excludes DNA testing which is not available on the NHS.
We can use DNA testing to explore the genetic variants of the genes that regulate: Stress, Burnout, Sleep, Appetite Regulation, Propensity to Higher BMI, Inflammation, Cholesterol Insights, Blood Sugar Balance, Saturated Fat Balance, Omega 3|6 Balance.
There is a secret that those of us who keep up to date with the latest science know: When it comes to nutrition, what works for one person, has little to no effect on a second person, and can make a third person worse. Promoters of popular diets encounter this scenario at some point: They read something out there and how it was successful in helping people. They put it forward to a client and it works wonderfully, but then when recommending the same protocol to another client, they discover that it fails. The problem is: many people follow “hear-say” or recommend what worked for them, leaving out the person’s unique situation and nutrient needs. Most of us can relate to this. It is the same experience of the person wanting to increase their mental focus and energy levels by trying a friend’s successful eating plan, only to find that it causes her to lose her mental focus and drains her energy instead! Why? Because everyone’s biochemistry is different. Even between people within the same family and with similar genetics!
