Your Business Community (YBC) was formed in 2014 because of the failure of traditional bodies, such as Federations and Chambers, to adequately address the needs of the small business sector.The smaller a business is the less represented it is likely to be and, despite there being some 5 million businesses within this sector, they are largely left to their own devices.In the 10 years since our formation we have been able to provide advice and support to thousands of business owners from all corners of the UK and will continue to do so.
Small businesses owners are a wide ranging group with common needs. Unlike bigger businesses they don’t have departments to fall back on when they need advice which often causes them problems.
By bringing this community together by providing unlimited advice and guidance we are also able to create a unified voice for the sector.The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted how misunderstood our sector is. Hospitality and Leisure businesses were rightly looked after but countless others were left without any support whatsoever and this must never be allowed to happen again.It was relatively easy to assist visible businesses, namely those working from premises, but shamefully, those working from home went largely ignored even though many had significant overheads to cope with.We will continue to seek to educate MPs and Local Authorities about the needs of all small businesses and to ensure that these areas are addressed.The nature of running a business has changed and government needs to acknowledge this and change with it. This will only happen if we get together and become one voice.
To continue to raise awareness, at all levels, of the issues affecting the UK’s smallest businesses and to offer tangible benefits to help our members to achieve their ambitions.

Small businesses are under constant pressure as they do not have the same level of resources to meet the demands made on them in regards to regulation, taxation and societal expectations.
But small businesses are at the heart of their community and part of the fabric of what makes up society.
We have to therefore robustly represent their interests both at local and national level, letting our politicians and civil servants know how legislation effects them and the consequences of bad law making.
