The Power of Social Media

Before we start I just want to say that I am not a technical expert on social media however I have learned a lot about the do’s and don’ts of social media that I thought was worth blogging.

Most of us when we come into business think that they’ll run an online business – easy, just it online and do a couple of posts and you’ll be raking it in in no time at all. It wont take long to discover that it takes a bit more than that to become an “expert online”.  Here, I will share with you a few things that work well for me and I’d urge you all to try it at some point – at least for a month and see what happens to your social media account.

  1. People are nosey!

People love looking at your personal posts – you don’t need to pour your heart out everyday but let people know what your about.  It’s well known that “people buy people”.  When they know love and trust you the sale is more likely to follow.

2.  Don’t sell on social media!

I cringe when I see someone just posting all about their products – buy me buy me buy me…I hate it – an occasional post or story is fine don’t over do it or you’ll look desperate!

3.  Pick something your passionate about and stick to it – now this can get tricky if you have several passions but keep it real.  For eg. I took up running a couple of years ago and hated it but kept going and have since completed 2 half marathons – something I never thought I would do – people love to read things like this because they know you and they too will be cheering you on.

4. Don’t worry too much about being perfect – no one is, so why should you be any different.

These are just some of the things I implemented into my social media and have seen a lot of growth in my following. I’d love to hear how you get on with yours!
